Two global giants to introduce next-generation HD tech

Samsung Electronics announced its plans to cooperate with Universal Pictures to boost HDR10+, advanced technology for ultra high-definition videos made by the former.

Short for high dynamic range 10+, HDR10+refers to an open source-based next-generation video standard specification technology of which development was led by Samsung.

Toward the end, The Seoul-based high-tech giant said on March 4 that it will join hands with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE).

HDR10+ transforms your TV experience with incredible brightness and contrast for each scene, delivering brighter brights and deepest darks. HDR10+ provides an extraordinary HDR picture-quality experience for viewers and delivers the highest-quality viewing experience,” a Samsung official said.

Through this partnership, Samsung Electronics and UPHE will collaborate on a wide selection of new release and catalog fare with HDR10+ technology, providing consumers with the best-possible home entertainment viewing experience on a variety of displays.”

UPHE’s Executive Vice President Michael Booner expressed his high hopes on the two-way partnership.

Samsung Executive Vice President Lee Hyo-gun expected that the coalition will have big implications in the related businesses.

UPHE is a unit of Universal group. It produces and distributes filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theater, TV, and other platforms.
